Convert an MP4 into a numbered PNG sequence.

MP4 is a common choice for screen recordings, cameras, and exports. Chrona can read it locally when the browser supports its video codec.

Before you choose the file

An MP4 extension identifies the container, not every codec inside it. H.264 video is broadly supported, while a less common codec may need a different browser or the native CLI.

A clean MP4-to-PNG workflow

Choose the file, trim the ranges, select original or fixed FPS, and extract. Original quality means lossless PNG encoding of the displayed decoded resolution; it does not promise bit-for-bit identity with the compressed MP4.

  • Use original rate for frame-by-frame review
  • Use fixed FPS for regular sampling
  • Keep the manifest when timestamps matter
