Fixed-FPS extraction is useful when another tool expects a regular cadence, such as a slideshow, labeling job, or animation reference sheet.

Chrona samples the decoded source against your selected rate. When the output rate is lower, it skips source frames. When it is higher, it repeats decoded frames. It does not interpolate new images.
Use the rate that matches the next tool
A rate such as 1 FPS creates one image per second for a contact sheet. A rate close to the source is better for motion review. Common fractional source rates remain precise instead of being rounded to a nearby integer.
Keep timestamps understandable
The archive manifest records the chosen mode and source timing. Frame names stay continuous, while each record retains its source timestamp so you can relate an image back to the video.
